Our 90 minute patient consultation & hearing test is much more thorough and comprehensive than the free hearing tests offered by the high street chain providers.
The process begins with a visual inspection of your ears using video otoscopy, allowing the audiologist to observe the ear canal and eardrum for obstructions or abnormalities.
If earwax is present, it will be removed to ensure accurate testing.
Tympanometry is performed to evaluate middle ear function by measuring pressure and eardrum movement.
This test helps identify potential issues like fluid buildup or perforations, which can affect hearing.
Pure tone audiometry, conducted in a soundproof room, measures your hearing sensitivity across various frequencies using air and bone conduction.
This test determines the type and degree of any hearing loss.
A speech-in-noise test assesses your ability to understand speech in noisy environments.
This test measures your speech discrimination by having you repeat sentences presented against background noise, simulating real-world listening challenges.
The audiologist will explain your test results, detailing any hearing loss and its potential causes.
A discussion of your listening needs and lifestyle will follow, leading to personalised recommendations, which may include hearing aids.
If needed, hearing aid options will be discussed, and a fitting appointment will be scheduled.
