Enhanced Speech Discrimination for Presbycusis: How Phonak Audeo L90-R Transformed Hearing in Noisy Environments

Below is a speech discrimination analysis for a patient with presbycusis. She reported significant difficulty hearing during family dinners, conferences, and ladies’ lunches.

To address her concerns, she was fitted with Phonak Audeo L90-R hearing aids, set at 90% gain. Additionally, I created a custom “Speech in Loud Noise” program, optimizing the directional microphones with StereoZoom.

As part of our standard test battery, we conducted both unaided and aided speech discrimination testing. The circles in the graph represent the patient’s scores without any amplification, while the red “AR” symbols show the improved speech discrimination results with the hearing aids in place.

The remarkable improvement demonstrated in these results is something we consistently see with these outstanding hearing aids!
