From Struggling to Thriving: How Phonak Infinio Sphere 90 Transformed Hearing in Background Noise for a Busy Professional

The Challenge: Our patient, a former physicist and current lawyer, came to us with significant hearing challenges, particularly in environments with background noise. He struggled to hear during group meetings, court proceedings, and social interactions with family and friends. He needed a solution that would enhance his speech clarity and help him navigate these complex auditory environments with confidence.

The Solution: We fitted him with the Phonak Infinio Sphere 90 hearing aids, a cutting-edge device designed to optimise speech clarity, especially in noisy settings. Real Ear Measures (REMs) were conducted to objectively verify the performance of the hearing aids. Beyond just fitting the aids, in our first follow up, we conducted aided speech testing in our sound proof booth using the Spheric Speech Clarity Program to objectively measure the improvements in how much better he is able to hear speech in background noise.

The Results: The clinical speech discrimination testing revealed truly outstanding results! The comparison between his unaided (circle symbol) and aided (AR symbol) speech scores demonstrated a significant improvement in his ability to understand speech in noise at three different Signal-to-Noise intervals. These findings were further reinforced by the patient’s own experience—he reported remarkable improvements in his daily interactions, from courtrooms to family gatherings.
