Where have you worked in Audiology?
Although my background is in primary care rather than traditional audiology, I have extensive experience managing ear-related conditions. For the past three years I have worked as a Physician Associate in General Practice, where assessing and treating patients with ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions formed a significant part of my daily clinical work. During this time, I also trained in ear wax removal using microsuction, irrigation, and manual instrumentation, and have provided these treatments in both NHS primary care and now in private practice at Pindrop Hearing.
What were your main duties?
My role involved assessing patients with a wide range of ENT presentations, carrying out clinical examinations, diagnosing common ear conditions, providing treatment and advice, and referring patients appropriately when specialist care was required. Ear wax removal became a particular area of interest, and I regularly performed microsuction, irrigation and manual wax removal to help patients improve their hearing, comfort, and quality of life.
What are your areas of interest in Audiology?
My current area of interest is ear wax removal. I enjoy helping patients through safe and effective microsuction and other wax removal techniques, while ensuring they feel comfortable and informed throughout their appointment.
Why did you get into audiology?
Working in General Practice introduced me to the fascinating world of audiology. I found ear-related presentations particularly rewarding and quickly discovered that I really enjoyed performing ear wax removal procedures. Being able to provide immediate relief and make such a noticeable difference to patients’ hearing and comfort inspired me to develop my skills further and become more involved in hearing healthcare.
What do you like about audiology/being an Audiologist?
I enjoy the combination of science, technology, and patient care that audiology offers. Even relatively simple treatments can have a huge impact on someone’s day-to-day life, and it’s incredibly rewarding to help people hear more clearly and feel more comfortable. I also enjoy continually developing my knowledge in this constantly evolving field.
What do you like about working at Pindrop Hearing?
I really enjoy being part of such a friendly and supportive team. Pindrop Hearing has a genuine commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care, and it’s rewarding to work in an environment where every patient is given the time, attention, and high standard of care they deserve.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
Outside of work I enjoy keeping active through the gym, running, and yoga. I also love baking, travelling, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of opportunities to explore new places and experiences.
