🎄 Happy Christmas from Pindrop Hearing. Our last working day is 23rd December 2025 and we will be back in the office on 5th January 2026 🎄
A patient was referred to Pindrop Hearing by their ENT consultant for a comprehensive Diagnostic Hearing Assessment. The patient presented with significant vertigo and associated anxiety, making it essential to ensure both clinical safety and patient comfort during testing.
The combination of debilitating vertigo and extensive exposure to misinformation online had heightened the patient’s anxiety and uncertainty about their condition. The challenge lay not only in obtaining accurate diagnostic results but also in providing clear education and reassurance to restore confidence and understanding.
Audiologist Harry Akram conducted the assessment at Pindrop’s Harley Street clinic. Careful preparation ensured that the patient’s vertigo was managed safely throughout the appointment.
Harry took time to discuss the patient’s symptoms, address misconceptions and explain each step of the process. Testing was completed within a transparent, sound-proof booth using high-quality diagnostic equipment.
Following testing, results were discussed in detail with both the patient and their husband, ensuring full comprehension and transparency. The results and report were sent to the referring consultant the same afternoon.
The patient described their experience as “excellent from start to finish”, highlighting the attentiveness of both the reception and clinical teams, the clarity of communication, and the professionalism of the assessment.
“Harry was excellent, asking what had brought me to Pindrop today and gathering background information. He thoroughly explained every test, reassuring me all the time. After the tests had been completed, he explained the results clearly to myself and my husband, and the results were sent to my consultant that afternoon.
Excellent service – I would recommend Pindrop to anyone needing private hearing tests.”
This case demonstrates the importance of empathetic communication and patient-centred care in diagnostic audiology, particularly for individuals experiencing vestibular symptoms. A calm, well-explained process not only supports accurate testing but also helps reduce anxiety and reinforce trust between clinicians and patients.
