Hearing loss often develops gradually, causing your brain to adapt to reduced sound levels. This adaptation becomes your new “normal.” To maximise the benefits of hearing aids, your brain needs time to adjust to the enhanced sound quality. Our audiologists may gradually increase the hearing aid settings over time to facilitate this acclimatisation process.

Neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reorganise itself, plays a crucial role in hearing aid success. Regular use of hearing aids stimulates the auditory cortex, leading to structural and functional changes that enhance sound processing.

During follow-up appointments, our audiologists will:

• Fine-tune your hearing aids: We’ll make adjustments to optimise sound quality, comfort, and audibility.
• Monitor your progress: We’ll assess your hearing aid performance and address any concerns or questions.
• Provide auditory rehabilitation: We’ll offer strategies and exercises to help you adapt to your new hearing abilities.
